There are several approaches when it comes to defining how liveable a country is. Many claim it is not simply the general level of wages.
Equally important, if not more, is the overall quality of the healthcare system, including such factors as healthcare professionals, infrastructure, services and costs. And this is exactly what the Health Care Index shows.
Unfortunately, countries in Central and Eastern Europe, such as Poland, Romania and Hungary, are lagging significantly behind, occupying 25th, 28th and 32nd places respectively out of the 37 countries ranked. The rankings in Europe are led by France (78.8), Netherlands (78.6) and Denmark (78.4), according to 2023 mid-year data published by Numbeo, a Serbia-based crowd-sourced online database of cost of living, real property prices, and quality of life statistics.

The Health Care Exp Index – in the other column of the table – reflects the quality of a healthcare system by emphasizing the positive aspects (through an exponential increase), as well as the native aspects more significantly.
